Bray Court Office – Important Notice – transfer of all sittings of Arklow District Court to Bray Courthouse effective from the 26/03/2020, until further notice

- In accordance with the direction of District Judge David Kennedy pursuant to the Courts of Justice Act 1953, sec. 27 (3) and the District Court Rules, Order 2, rule 1 (2):

In light of the additional restrictions announced by the Government on the 27th March and in order to ensure compliance with Government policy, while retaining access to justice, the sittings of Arklow District Court (currently sitting at Arklow Rocks GAA Club, Emoclew Rd, Arklow, Co. Wicklow) will now take place at Bray Courthouse, The Civic Centre, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow, effective from Thursday 26th March 2020, until further notice.

In accordance with the statements issued by the President of the District Court, only matters deemed urgent and essential, as previously specified, will be heard at these sittings, until further notice (see appendix). These statements may be updated so please consult www.courts.ie periodically for the most up to date information.

Appendix – matters defined as essential and urgent, in accordance with the current direction of the President of the District Court:

  • New applications for Protection Orders
  • New applications for Interim Barring Orders
  • Applications for Emergency Barring Orders
  • Extension of care orders and interim care orders and emergency care orders and exceptional or urgent interim care orders
  • New criminal charge sheet cases and custody cases
  • Other emergency matters, where a case for urgency is made to the Court Office in writing and then approved by the relevant Judge

No other persons are required to attend. Their cases will be adjourned and they will be notified of the new date
