Notice In Relation to Applications for Wardship

In preparation for the commencement of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015, the President of the High Court has directed that the Office of Wards of Court will stop accepting wardship applications under Section 15 of the Lunacy Regulation (Ireland) Act 1871 from the 22nd April 2022.  

Applications will still be accepted where there is a documented urgency and a requirement for specified Court Orders.

The Circuit Court will have jurisdiction to receive applications on commencement of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015, which is expected in June 2022.

 

In relation to Inquiry Orders  

All proceedings under an Inquiry Order will continue to be heard and listed before the Court until commencement of theAssisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
