You can only be referred to the Drug Treatment Court if:
- You have criminal charges before a District Court in Dublin
- You have pleaded guilty or have been convicted of certain non-violent offences
- You are not facing road traffic-related charges
- You have no outstanding Circuit Court matters
- You do not have a serious history of violent offending
You (or your solicitor) can ask the judge to refer you to the Drug Treatment Court. It is up to the judge to decide whether to send you to the programme.
If the judge agrees, you will go through an assessment process.
The assessment includes:
- A meeting with the Drug Treatment Court team
- A drug screening
- Creating a Personal Progression Plan (PPP)
You will then be given a start date for your first appearance in the Drug Treatment Court.
