Participants of the North-South bilateral in Farmleigh House
On Friday, 28 November, the Irish Judiciary hosted a delegation of Northern Irish judges for a day of meetings in Dublin. This most recent meeting forms part of a longstanding arrangement under which the senior Judiciary of Ireland and Northern Ireland meet to discuss issues of mutual interest.
Such bilateral meetings provide an important opportunity for engagement and dialogue between members of the judiciary from both North and South of the island, fostering collaboration and a sharing of work practices.
The meetings were attended by Mr. Justice Donal O’Donnell, Chief Justice, and a number of judges of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and High Court. The Rt Hon Dame Siobhán Keegan, Lady Chief Justice, led the Northern Ireland delegation which also comprised judges of the Court of Appeal and High Court of Northern Ireland.
The programme for the day included sessions on topics such in the areas of sentencing, family law, and access to justice.
