Circuit Court

Procedure for setting cases down for trial

CC05

From the 24th of January, 2000 practitioners are required to give 14 days written notice of their intention to set a matter down for trial in the Dublin Circuit Court. A copy of such notice should be filed in the Circuit Court Office at the same time as the notice of trial.

Practitioners are reminded of the practice direction dated 8th January 1999 which provides that both parties requesting trial dates must be ready for hearing and ensure that all pre-trial matters have been finalised. Further the Circuit Court should be advised of the likely duration of the matter and in the case of ordinary civil matters whether liability remains an issue.

Dated this 16th day of December, 1999.

President of the Circuit Court
