Practice Directions

Practice Directions set out the procedures to be followed when bringing proceedings before the courts. There are separate practice directions for each jurisdiction.

Digital Delivery - Family Law Civil Bill

I, Patricia Ryan, President of the Circuit Court, having consulted with the Chief Executive Officer of the Courts Service, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 22(17) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961, and Order 11A, rule 12 of the Circuit Court Rules in the interests of the administration of justice and the determination of proceedings in a manner which is just, expeditious and likely to minimise the cost of those proceedings, direct in relation to the conduct of proceedings as follows:

  1. With effect from the 4th day of December 2025, I authorise the use of digital delivery (as defined in the Circuit Court Rules) in the following proceedings in the Circuit Court.  
     
    Category or class of proceedingsProceedings which are initiated by Family Law Civil Bill
    Circuits or Counties concernedAll Circuits
  1. Authorised digital delivery is subject to the available functionality from time to time of the Courts’ digital portal (namely, the “network” referred to in Order 11A, rule 1 of the Circuit Court Rules).  
     
  2. This direction replaces Practice Direction CC30.
