High Court Notice – Whit Vacation 2026

Practitioners and Court Users are hereby advised of the following arrangements during Whit Vacation 2026.

1. Urgent Sittings over Whit Vacation - Court 6 Four Courts

A High Court Judge will be available every day throughout the Vacation to hear urgent applications only. All sittings before the vacation Judge will take place Monday to Friday in Court 6 in the Four Courts at 11.00 am unless otherwise advised by the High Court Duty Registrar.

In the case of any such matter please email [email protected] or call the Four Courts at 01-8886000 to make the necessary arrangements with the High Court Duty Registrar.  

Please include in your email an explanation as to the urgency.   

By direction of the President of the High Court applications will NOT be listed before the Vacation Judge without prior certification from the High Court Duty Registrar that the matter is sufficiently urgent in nature.

2. Bail Sittings over Whit Vacation – Cloverhill Courthouse

In addition to the foregoing, the High Court Bail List will sit in Cloverhill Courthouse on the following dates over the Whit Vacation period. 

  • Tuesday 26 May 2026
  • Wednesday 27 May 2026
  • Thursday 28 May 2026
  • Tuesday 2 June 2026

3. Extradition Sittings over Whit Vacation – Court 20 CCJ, Parkgate Street

The Extradition Vacation List will sit in the Criminal Courts of Justice on the following dates over the Vacation period to deal with URGENT Extradition matters only.

  • Tuesday 26 May 2026
  • Thursday 28 May 2026

By direction of the President of the High Court these sittings are to facilitate URGENT applications only and matters that were adjourned specifically to this date on a previous occasion to facilitate, inter alia, statutory time limits.

In the case of any matter that was not previously listed, please contact the Extradition mailbox to make arrangements with the Extradition Duty Registrar should a listing be required on the dates above only. Applications will not be listed before the vacation sitting of the Extradition list without certification from the Extradition Duty Registrar that the matter is sufficiently urgent.

4. Central Office of the High Court Opening Hours

The Central Office will remain open for business as usual for the duration of the Whit Vacation. Business in the Central Office is transacted by appointment using the online appointment system to secure bookings https://www.courts.ie/appointments. For urgent matters, where it is not possible to book online, please email [email protected] to make an appointment.

5. List Room Opening Hours

The List Room will close at 4.30 pm on Thursday 21 May 2026 and will reopen at 10am on Tuesday 3 June 2026.

6. Legal Diary

The Legal Diary will be published on the Courts Service website (www.courts.ie) on each day on which the Central Office is open during the Whit Vacation
