Statement of Means – key information required

This information is intended as a guide to outline the typical key information that is needed in a completed Statement of Means, whether in Affidavit or Statement of Truth form, that you wish to file with the Courts. The information outlined below does not constitute legal advice.

There are five schedules that must be completed in the Statement of Means. Below is an illustrated example of how you might complete each schedule.

• The information is for illustration purposes only.
• It is critical that you provide accurate information for your specific circumstances.
• You can omit items in each schedule that do not apply to you or add additional items as needed.
• Make sure the amounts listed for all items under the second schedule (income) and the fourth schedule (expenditure) are based on the same frequency, either weekly or monthly.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ASSETS

Please state all assets including family home, car, accounts held with financial institutions and any other property and assets, see samples below

SECOND SCHEDULE

WEEKLY INCOME

Please state income from all sources e.g. Social Welfare, FIS, Child Benefit, earnings etc, see samples below

THIRD SCHEDULE

DEBTS AND/OR LIABILITIES

Please state all debts and liabilities including mortgage, bank loans, credit union loans, personal loans and any other debts, see samples below

FOURTH SCHEDULE

PERSONAL EXPENDITURE (WEEKLY)

Please include expenditure on groceries, household bills and utilities, transport, medical expenses and personal expenses for yourself and expenses for your children if applicable, see samples below

FIFTH SCHEDULE

PENSION SCHEME DETAILS

Include all pensions in previous employments. If you have no pension please write in “none”. See samples below
