Submit a Filing

Find answers to common questions about submitting applications and documents through the Courts Portal, including paying court fees, tracking your filings, receiving case updates and court dates, and responding to revision requests.

Can I pay court fees online?

Yes. Court fees must be paid when you submit your filing through the Courts Portal.

The following payment methods are supported:

  • Legal firms: Card or direct debit (EFT).
  • Self-represented parties: Card payments only.

How long does it take to review filings?

Review times depend on the type of application you submit.

Circuit Family Law matters
Filings submitted before 2:00 pm on a working day are typically reviewed the same day. Filings submitted after 2:00 pm are normally reviewed on the next working day.

Probate applications
After completing your online application, you must submit the required original documents to the Probate Office. Your application will be reviewed as soon as possible after the original documents have been received.

Can I check the status of my filings?

Yes. You can view the status of your filings from the Cases page in the Courts Portal.

If the first filing in a case has not yet been approved, the current status is displayed when you open the case.

Once a case contains approved filings, you can view the status of each filing in the Filed Documents section.

How will I know about case updates?

You will receive email notifications whenever there is an update to your case.

You can also view updates at any time in the Case Updates section of the portal.

How will I know about court dates?

You will receive an email notification whenever a court date is scheduled or changed.

Court dates can also be viewed in:

  • Case Updates for individual cases.
  • Court Dates for a list of all scheduled court dates.

What happens if there is a problem with my documents?

If there is an issue with your submission, the filing will be marked Revision Required.

You will receive an email notification explaining that changes are needed. After making the required corrections, you can resubmit your filing through the portal.

If you have already paid the filing fee, you will not be charged again when resubmitting the corrected documents.
