You can schedule an appointment online to visit this office for:
- Maintenance
- Custody/Access
- Guardianship
- Domestic Violence Applications
Please attend at your appointment time, and ensure you have all relevant documents listed below before attending to progress your business as quickly as possible.
You do not need to make an appointment for an application in relation to domestic violence or breach of access. A walk- in service is available Monday to Friday (except bank holidays), and we strive to attend to you promptly. However, please be aware that during busy periods, there may be some waiting time.
Access to this service:
- If you are applying for a domestic violence order, you must reside within the Dublin Metropolitan District (DMD).
- For other services, you or the other person must be ordinarily residing or carrying out business/profession in Dublin in order to apply through the Dublin District Family Law Office.
- If you have Family Law proceedings in any other Court, you cannot make any other applications in a different Court Service Office (with the exception of domestic violence).
- If you currently have proceedings in the Family Law Courts, please ensure that you bring your Case Reference number to your appointment.
To ensure your appointment can proceed, you should bring a number of documents with you, including:
- A valid form of ID, such as a Passport or Driving Licence.
- You must have the full names and dates of birth of all children involved in your application and the address they are living at.
For Domestic Violence Applications:
- Please complete an Application for a Domestic Violence Order form and bring 1 copy to your appointment.
For Custody, Access, and Guardianship Applications:
- You must have the address where the other party currently resides and complete a Confirmation of Address Form.
- For these types of appointments, please complete three (3) copies of the Statement of Arrangements Form before attending.
For fathers applying for guardianship where the mother has been previously married:
For this appointment type, please bring the following four forms with you:
- You must have the address where the other party currently resides and complete a Confirmation of Address Form.
- Statement of Arrangements Form
- Guardianship Form (Mother)
- Guardianship Form (Father)
For Maintenance Applications:
- For new Maintenance applications, please complete an Application for Maintenance form and bring 1 copy to your appointment. If you are applying for maintenance for more than 3 children, please complete an Additional Dependent Child Details form and attach it to the Application for Maintenance form.
- You will also be required to complete this Statement of Means form form before your appointment. Please bring 3 copies of your statement of means to your appointment.
- For applications to vary or discharge an existing maintenance order, please complete an Application to Vary or Discharge a Maintenance Order form and bring 1 copy to your appointment. You will also be required to complete this Statement of Means form before your appointment. Please bring 3 copies of your statement of means to your appointment.
- For Arrears of Maintenance applications, please complete a Statement of Arrears Form and bring 1 copy to the court office.
Please note that due to the urgent nature of certain matters that must take priority, there may be a slight delay to your appointment commencement time.
About this Office:
This office deals with business for all the areas within the Dublin Metropolitan Court District, other than Swords area. Business for Swords is dealt with at Swords District Court Office.

Emergency Domestic Violence Applications:
Emergency domestic violence applications must be made in the Interview Room before 3.00 p.m. each day. If you need to bring an emergency application after hours, contact your local Garda station. The Garda station will contact the court clerk on call to arrange a court. On Saturdays and public holidays, you may make an emergency application at the Criminal Courts Office, Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, Dublin 8.
