False Spam E-mail seeking personal details from recipients  is not from the Courts Service or the Jury Office.

The public should ignore an email purporting to be from the Courts Service headed ‘Office of Jury Commissioner – Failure to Appear for Juror Service’.  The email is spam and could lead to fraud.

It was not sent from, or by, the Courts Service, or from our IT system.  It is a false instrument designed to gather details about the recipient.

The mail alleges the recipient has not answered a jury summons and offers a means of answering this allegation.  Answering this mail causes a second one to be forwarded seeking banking details for payment of a fine.

Providing such information is a recipe for fraud, and has been reported to An Garda Síochána.

The Courts Service would never communicate in this manner nor seek banking details via an email.

The return address is not one set up, or ever used by the Courts Service.
